4x4 OVERLAND Journeys

Shangri-la to Tibet Overland

The YunNan-Tibet route (see map) is considered the most scenic yet treacherous (on certain parts). An exhilarating journey with changing landscapes, this is a classic route to see Tibet.

The journey begins amidst the majestic mountains and cliffs of northwest YunNan. You will travel across the verdant Nyingchi Prefecture to Lhasa and continue to the harsher western region to reach Everest Base Camp.

Highlights:
3 great rivers: Upper Yangtze (JinSha), Upper Mekong (LanCang) and Salween (Nu).
Monasteries: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Tashilungpo Monastery, Palchoi Monastery.
Overnight in Tibetan tents at Namtso Lake and Everest Base Camp.

Tibet to XinJiang Overland

The western part of Tibet is known for its harsh conditions and bad roads. Water is scarce and the land is vast. A rewarding journey across one of the most deserted place on earth.

You will travel to the westernmost part of Tibet to visit Mt Kailash and the ancient Kingdom of GuGe. Cross the KunLun mountain range and go into XinJiang. Experience the cultures of two great religions: Buddhism and Islam. A number of important historical towns lie along this route. The journey ends at Kashgar, a bustling oasis city at the edge of the Taklamakan desert.

You may catch a glimpse of K2 if the weather is good. And encounter lots of roaming wild animals including the chiru (Tibetan antelopes found only on the Tibetan Plateau)!

*Option to do kora at Mount Kailash and visit the Everest Base Camp.

Kazakhstan Adventure

New itinerary in 2008!

Instead of Trekking-based, we have refined this trip to cater more to the average urbanites who wish to explore this in 4x4 jeep, with some short hiking days. It is now classified as Overland-based, with outdoor picnics experience and cottage-stay in the beautiful countryside

A new adventure in Central Asia! To many, Kazakhstan is one of those small countries that used to be part of the huge former Soviet Union. Small it is not, Kazakhstan is the 9th largest country in the world! Her history is as old as the ancient silk route if not older. The region was one of the important crossroads of the East and West and had seen many civilizations passing through, conquering and settling down on her beautiful lands.

This trip will take you to the best destinations around Almaty and the surrounding mountainous areas near the border of Kyrgyzstan. Truly untouched, it is one of the rare places in the world where you can feel how it was like when the ancient explorers and nomads journeyed across unknown lands.
