BingZhongLuo & Nu River Trek

This is our new offering for 2008! In this trek, you explore part of the ancient Tea-Horse route where the merchants trade tea and other groceries for mountain products between YunNan and Tibet. Old Tea-Horse route, also known as "ChaMaGuDao" is the Silk Road of southwest China.

ChaMaGuDao follows along the Nu River (Upper Salween) on the eastern foothills of HengDuan mountains, which also forms the border of YunNan with Myanmar. It is a route with cultural and ethnic diversity as it is home to the DuLong, Nu & Tibetan minority groups.

Tiger Leaping Gorge and YuBeng Trek

Northwest YunNan is historically inhabited by Khampa Tibetans and various ethnic minority groups. 3 great rivers: Upper Yangtze (JinSha), Upper Mekong (LanCang) and Salween (Nu) pass through this mountainous region.

This trip combines trekking with visits to LiJiang Old Town and Shangri-la. Some of the trails were where the ancient tea-horse caravan treaded since Tang Dynasty. Tiger Leaping Gorge is a deep and dramatic gorge sandwiched by HaBa Snow Mountain and YuLong Snow Mountain. Expect spectacular sights and sounds. The second trek is from FeiLaiSi to YuBeng Village at the foot of the sacred MeiLi Snow Mountain. Go right into the heart of the pristine and untouched region around the mountain.

LuGu Lake to DaoCheng YaDing Trek

This is one of the most beautiful treks in China. The area from Lugu Lake to DaoCheng Yading is home to diverse groups of ethnic minorities. As you trek amidst mountains, forests, lakes and grasslands, you will pass by many charming villages. You will meet villagers of various ethnic groups with their distinct costumes, architecture, language and culture. You will stay at some of the villages and pitch tents along the way. In May, azaleas and wild flowers bloom. In October the mountains and forests turn into stunning hues of reds and yellows. You may encounter some snow during early spring and late autumn. This 8-day trek is an unforgettable and dreamlike adventure.

Kanas Lake and HeMu Trek

Kanas lies in Burjin county in the northernmost part of XinJiang. Resembling Southern Siberia in climate, it is a place of snow peaks, glaciers, alpine forests and lakes. Winter last for 7 months here! The vast forests of birch trees and conifers are dazzling in autumn as the leaves change their colors. Nomadic people like the Kazakhs and Mongolians have made their home here since ancient times. You will trek in the vicinity around Lake Kanas, a beautiful crescent shaped alpine lake. You will visit the secluded village of the mysterious Tuvans who live in log cabins. Legend has it that the Tuvans were descendents of the army of Genghis Khan.

Taklamakan Desert-X-ing Trek

A rare opportunity to experience life in a desert! This trip includes 7 days of trekking and living in tents out in the Taklamakan desert.

Taklamakan desert in XinJiang is one of the largest sand-only deserts in the world. The region has historically been a crossroad for the East and the West. At the northern and southern edge of the desert are the famous silk routes. You will trek 150km across a vast expanse of sand dunes.
