Tibet Kailash Trek & Lake Manasarovar

» Tibet Overland Tour

fr SGD3390

10 Days

3000km

Description

In A Nutshell:

We drive overland from Lhasa (3650m) to base camp (4500m) of Mt Kailash, slowly acclimatising you to the increase in altitude to prepare for the circummabulation trek around Kailash.
You will fly out from Gar Ngari back to Lhasa for your departure from Tibet

 Key Highlights:
 • 52km pilgrimage kora hike around Kailash (over 2 days)
 • Guge Kingdom ruins
 • 'clay forest' in Zhada
 • Lake Manasarovar & Rakshastal

Highlights

The main issue in this trip is Altitude Sickness.

Many people do not understand this and did not make an informed decision when they choose their ground operator.  They only want the quickest and cheapest way to finish this trip.  Doing so put their lives at extremely high risk, let alone not able to acclimatise well for the challenging 52km trek around Kailash.  In it, you are going up to 5650m Drolma la highpass and spending a night at 5000m (at the 22km mark).

Here at Shangrila Adventure, we put the safety and health of our clients above anything else.  Our years of experience operating in high altitude areas (such as Tibet, western SiChuan) have seen us bringing more than 100 clients (from trekkers to cyclist safely and successfully).

We design our itinerary the way we believe will give our clients the best acclimatisation.  No negotiation on cutting short or flying in directly to Ngari to get to Kailash in one day.  It is a disaster waiting to happen if you do that.

Here, we take the overland way, spreading the drive over 3 days, to purposely allow you time to drive up to mountain passes >5000m and coming back down to 4500-4600m to sleep.
